New Tradition

Year 2 of taking time at Christmas to look back and thank God for all He brought me through during the year. I can remember so many blessings - so many times He bolstered my faith. There were some tears, some worries, some sighs but so many more laughs, more refreshing music, moments of celebration (especially the special 70th Bday of my mom and stepdad), flashes of revelation, more times of curiosity & wonder, and so many smiles.

I like this exercise. Been trying to engage in new traditions and I think this can be one of them.

January 2022 - NYE with the McCabe’s, begun the 2022 Miss Fashionetta program; spent Founders Day in Oakland to catch Lalah Hathaway

February - got windshield replaced from the damage that happened during the Oakland trip; celebrated 7 years of Bakersfield Ivy Legacy Foundation

March - received official notice of ‘Silver Star’ status; recovered from BP scare

April - welcomed my sister to what is now ‘our’ sorority; got to finally be in person with the regional conference committee I was privileged to lead

May - lost my OG FB profile to hackers; received certificate from Georgetown Uni for completing the Education Finance program

June - completed the 2022 Miss Fashionetta program; enjoyed the jazz fest at the Hollywood Bowl even though DNice kicked us to the curb

July - enjoyed a brief but good set of my brother’s comedy; celebrated my 2021 sorority mentee

August - enjoyed GREAT laughs with sweet friends on my 53rd BDay; marveled at an afternoon sail around Newport Beach

September - more good times with sorority sisters; took in another PJ Morton live set 👌🏾

October - added to my vinyl collection; closed out the month with a nice winery tour

November - made it to DC to see Eric Roberson at the Kennedy Center and finally hung out with folks I’d been zooming with for more than a year

December - marked the impact of Bakersfield Ivy Legacy’s first retiring directors; begun as vocal director for Sister Act at Bakersfield Community Theatre after a successful run as co-producer for American Son

Thank you Jesus! I don’t know what tomorrow holds but I know Who holds tomorrow 🙌🏾🙏🏾❤️ #lezzgo
