Black Banking

Did you see the movie “The Banker”? It was very well acted and shot and I learned alot from the story. I was heartened to learn about a black man buying critical real estate in the Los Angeles area. Land ownership is power and to see on the screen a story about a black man acquiring that power in a world-class city encouraged me. The storyline of Bernard Garrett’s quest to open a bank in Texas also opened my thinking to how, when and where black people bank (and own banks). I’m going to take time this month to look at different black banks and open an account. I’ll take a look at their website and information about them on the FDIC website (maybe I’ll understand more of how it operates as well).

Banks I’ll look at first:

This is going to be interesting!! I look forward to broaden my participation in strengthening the economy of my community.
